The color purple . OMG . What a great book . Its so captivating ! Once you read the first page you just want to continue and not stop until the end . Its about a girl named Celie and her sister Nettie . Its in the form of a diary . This book is pretty much about female empowerment . At first she writes to God about her tragic life . Celie has been raped and gave birth to 3 children . The father of her babies is her step - father . Pretty twisted right ? But thats not all . He kills her first baby and sells the other 2 to a family whom is willing to care for it . Then her father has to get rid of her and so he marries her off to a man named Albert , but she calls him Mr _____ . Mr _____ has 3 children . They are all ROTTEN to the bone . They give her a hard time and her husband , Mr ____ beats her . I won't reveal more so you'll have to read and find out about it . In the end though , she finds her voice and strength and breaks free with her woman lover , whom is Shug Avery .Her life goes from disconsolate to blessed .
